A note from Jess

April has kicked off already! Can you believe we are in the midst of the Rip Curl Pro. Easter has been and gone and we are now greeted with dark skies before and after work. With all that in mind it is time to start getting our head around our fitness plans over the next few months. So what's on at The Ox? A whole lot! That's why I am frantically typing away tonight to get the news out. We have some schedule changes for April. We need some suggestions for boxing and we want to hear about your progress! I am loving the consistency in the gym. Everyone is showing up and working hard. I am so proud of you all and would love to share your successes with others to help inspire them.
Last month Flipswitch Media came to The Ox Effect and took some footage of the gym to create three professional, high quality and exciting videos. Mia, Riley and Steve were amazing to work with. Thank you for making the gym look fantastic.

If you haven't seen the videos yet, have a look on our website or Facebook page.

Jodie heads off next week on holidays and so that leaves a few gaps in our schedule. We will be covering her Wednesday night Slow Flow class with Alita. Tuesday night Gentle Yoga & Meditation will be covered by one of Jodie's highly recommended friends. She is trained in yoga and meditation and will be an absolute treat on Tuesday nights for the next 5 weeks.

Our Pilates mat class isn't filled yet and I am asking the community if they may know of someone who is Pilates Mat Level Certified. Please pass on my details as i would love to hear from them.
Tomorrow night is Jodie's last class for a while so make sure you book in to get your last Jodie fix before she goes on holidays. :)
Member Feedback
Boxing is currently running Wednesday nights at 6:15pm.
I would like to hear some feedback on what time would be better to those of you who would like to attend on a weekly basis instead of this time. Click on the box below to let me know.
When can you Box?
Riddle yourself with this!!
So this morning I asked the 7am crew what I should write in the newsletter. They suggested many things but I chose the riddle suggestion. Here goes!
When you need me, you throw me away. When you're finished with me, you bring me back.

Kerry's Recipes
Mango Ice Cream Bars

50-70g dried mango
1 can full fat coconut milk
½ cup cacao butter
½ cup cacao powder

Put the dried mango and coconut milk in a bowl together and leave to soak for a few hours (or overnight). This rehydrates the dried mango and makes it very easy to blend.
When ready, blend the mango and coconut milk together using a blender, food processor or hand blender.
Line a loaf tin or small silicon square moulds with baking paper and pour in the mixture. Freeze for 4-6 hours or overnight

Chocolate coating:
Melt the cacao butter and cacao powder in a double boiler. Add any sweetener or a pinch of sea salt. Set to the side and allow to cool slightly.

Line a tray with baking paper ready for the bars and put to the side for a minute.

Take the frozen ice cream block out of the freezer and slice into bars (or remove from individual silicone moulds).
Roll each bar in the melted chocolate in the bowl and place on the baking paper. Repeat several times until desired coverage. Return to freezer and enjoy!

Cacao Protein Balls/Bars

1 tablespoon cacao powder
1/3 cup of grass fed collagen powder
2 tablespoon of coconut oil
Pinch of salt
½ teaspoon of vanilla powder
1 cup cashews, almonds or brazil nuts
Liquid stevia to taste

Add all ingredients to a food processor or blender and blitz together until well blended and the mixture begins to come together (don’t worry if it’s a little crumbly). Line a small container with baking paper and press the mixture into the container evenly. Place in the freezer or fridge until set. Slice into squares or triangles and store in the freezer. Alternatively you can roll these into balls
